ASA dismisses two complaints against 888 UK Ltd

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has dismissed two complaints against 888 UK Ltd for two videos on Callum Airey’s YouTube channel

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has dismissed II complaints against 888 UK Ltd for ii videos on Callum Airey’s YouTube channel.

The videos mired Airey, a YouTuber better known as Calfreezy, promoting the 888poker app. They took position in Aug 2021.

Two complainants, who believed Airey had a big following with immature people, said the ads were directed towards those senior infra 18 years, and had a particular appealingness to children.

888 noted that the ii videos were ads for which they paid Airey and had editorial control, explaining that ane ad was not ab initio labelled as an ad, but has since been amended and was now described accurately.

The society also noted that at least 75% of Airey’s followers were o'er 18, therefore the ads were not targeted at children. The YouTuber backed up this statement by supplying ternary screenshots from his YouTube analytics to demo audience numbers upset cut down past age, with the first-class honours degree ad showing that 7.5% of the audience had been below 18, and the endorse advertising showing that 6% of the audience were below 18. The figures did not breach the 25% ASA threshold.

888 added that Airey was o'er 25 years old, piece Responsible Gambling and 18+ logos appeared on both videos, with an 18+ verbal disclaimer featuring on both ads.

The ASA concluded that having investigated the ads under CAP Code rules 16.1 and 16.3.12, no more breach was found, and therefore no more farther litigate was necessary.
